With a population of around 86,000 people, the Troy area is unmistakably one of the largest communities in Michigan. As a central location to many places, Troy has the quaintness of an old town, but at times, the bustling nature of a big city. Troy

Troy is located at the heart of Metropolitan Detroit’s northern suburbs. The city’s estimated 2019 population is 85,755, making it the largest city in Oakland County. Troy is about 6 miles (9.7 km) north of the city of Detroit. It was organized as Troy Township in 1827, and sections of the township were later incorporated into the cities of Birmingham, Clawson, and Royal Oak. The last portion of the township incorporated as the present-day city of Troy in 1955. Troy is home to a wide range of businesses – from small family-run operations all the way to Fortune 500 companies.

Troy is the most-populated city in the county and the 13th most-populated municipality in the state. Troy is a leading business and shopping destination with numerous office centers and the upscale Somerset Collection mall. In 2011, Troy was ranked the safest city in Michigan, as well as the 19th safest city in the nation. In 2008, Troy was ranked 22nd on a list of “Best Places to Live” in the United States by CNN Money, using criteria including housing, quality of education, economic strength, and recreational opportunities. In 2008, Troy was also ranked as the fourth most-affordable U.S. city with a median household income of approximately $79,000. its diverse international community is home to strong neighborhoods, top ranked schools, low property tax rates, and outstanding city services.

Over the years, Troy constantly receives national recognition. In 2019, Troy was ranked as the Safest Michigan City and in the top 25 overall Safest City in the United States. NerdWallet named Troy the 4th best small city in the U.S. to start a business (2015) and #1 among the best cities in Michigan for young families after assessing the city’s cost of living, education system and economic growth. Niche Rankings designated Troy the #1 best town in Michigan to raise a family (2015). Madison Heights

Madison Heights is a city in Oakland County. As of the 2010 census, its population was 29,694. It is a northern suburb of Metro Detroit, about 3 miles (4.8 km) north of the city of Detroit. 91% of the buildings in the city are single-family homes or condominiums (approximately 9,800 residential property owners), 60% of the tax base is fueled by light industrial or commercial property. It concentrates most of the Chinese/Asian business in Metro Detroit Area, including one of the biggest Chinese grocery stores 168mart. The area also includes many Chinese/Vietnams restaurants with bubble tea shops among other hotspots.

Originally part of Royal Oak Township, Madison Heights incorporated as a city by popular vote on January 17, 1955, and chartered on December 6 that same year, becoming the tenth city government in southern Oakland County. At that time, the 7.2 square miles (18.6 km2) city was one of the largest suburban communities in the Metro Detroit area. The first city hall was located at 26305 John R Road, the former township offices. On April 5, 1963, a new municipal building was dedicated which is on the present location at 300 West Thirteen Mile Road. The city lies in the Interstate 696 (I-696) and I-75 corridor and is served by two primary school districts, Lamphere and Madison, as well as a full-service municipal government.

There are more than 112 miles (180 km) of road within Madison Heights, of which the city maintains 105 miles (169 km), 95 miles (153 km) for snow removal, sweeping, and patching. Interstate 75 passes north to south on the west side of the city, and Interstate 696 is the major feature of its southern border. The junction of these two highways is shared with Royal Oak and Hazel Park on the southwest corner of Madison Heights.

Sterling Heights

Sterling Heights is a city in Macomb County and one of Detroit’s core suburbs. As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 129,699. It is the second-largest suburb in Metro Detroit and the fourth largest city in Michigan. Sterling Heights is consistently ranked as the safest city in Michigan with a population of over 100,000.

Detailed introduction

The city was known as Jefferson Township. It was then renamed Sterling Township. Until the 1950s, it was an agricultural area largely devoted to growing rhubarb and other crops sold in Detroit. Sterling Heights was incorporated as a city in 1968. There was already a small village named Sterling in Arenac County, so the word “Heights” was added to the township name to satisfy a state law that prevents incorporated municipalities from having the same name. many residents came to live in Sterling Heights to work in automobile plants operated by Chrysler and Ford. Lakeside Mall opened in Sterling Heights in 1976.

The city is home to many groups of immigrants. It has received many people of ethnic eastern European origins, including ethnic Albanians, Bosnians, Croatians, Macedonians, Montenegrins, Poles, Serbians, and Slovenians
