Bloomfield Area

The Bloomfield area is made up of 6 communities – Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, Bingham Farms, Beverly Hills and Franklin. It is a sought-after area in which to live, to shop and for investment. While this grouping of communities represents a significant area of upscale living in central Oakland County, each community has its own individual personality.

Birmingham, with its central downtown shopping district, has a more urban quality with high-end retail, restaurants, and various housing options. Franklin gives a glimpse of the past with its quaint shopping district of boutique shops, markets, and eateries, along with a neighboring cider mill. Bloomfield Hills is known for its prestigious educational, religious, and cultural institutions. The community is the home to the internationally renowned Cranbrook Institute of Science and Art, the exclusive Bloomfield Hills Country Club, and the Bloomfield Open Hunt Club. With many large homesteads in beautiful settings, residents value the traditions of quiet, rural residential properties, wooded lots, and privacy. Bingham Farms and Beverly Hills are mostly residential, serving as bedroom communities to Birmingham and Detroit. Both have areas of commerce along Telegraph Road and Southfield Road. Bloomfield Township, which “surrounds” Bloomfield Hills, is more suburban with residential areas mostly in well-maintained subdivisions. It is home to outstanding public and private schools, sports venues, lakes and rivers, and large-scale retailers towards the north end of Telegraph road. Additionally, Bloomfield Hills and Bloomfield Township offer various selections of waterfront living.

The area’s distinctive personality lends itself to a diverse blend of residents and lifestyles. This diversity extends to the retail and restaurant offerings and to those who come not to live, but also to visit. Bloomfield’s location also makes it convenient to the vast number of cultural and recreational assets that are available in the Metro Detroit area. Truly a place to “live, shop, and play”, enjoy all that is around you, and appreciate this special way of life that is Bloomfield!
